Welcome to our Tolkien Pages here in Mordor ~ The Land of Shadow.com

Here we celebrate all things Tolkien and hopefully offer insight into both the man and the author, behind the writings of Middle-earth. In these pages, you’ll likely discover new and interesting things about Professor Tolkien, his life and his writing, that perhaps you weren’t aware of before.

So take a seat in your favorite chair, curl up beside a roaring fire, whilst nibbling upon a tasty morsel and sipping your favorite beverage, as you discover the man behind Middle-earth! You may access the menu above to explore all the pages about Professor Tolkien here in Mordor!

Lets begin by listening to Tolkien recite the famous Ring-verse from The Lord of the Rings.

In Tolkien’s own voice, we hear the Ring Verse written with fire by the black hand of the Dark Lord upon the One Ring of Power!

Ring Verse in English

One Ring to-rule-them-all, One Ring to-find-them,
One Ring to-bring-them-all, and in-the-Darkness bind-them!

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Ring Verse in the Black Speech

Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul,
ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul!

Shre nazg golugranu kilmi-nudu
Ombi kuzddurbagu gundum-ishi
Nugu gurunkilu bard gurutu
Ash Burz-Durbagu burzum-ishi
Daghburz-ishi makha gulshu darulu

(Last five lines translated into the Black Speech by David Salo for the Soundtrack to LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring Film)
