The folks at the Tolkien Society created Tolkien Reading Day back in 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading a favorite passage. They encourage schools, museums and libraries to host their own Tolkien Reading Day events.
Tolkien Reading Day is held on the 25th of March each year. The date was chosen because it marks the moment when the One Ring was destroyed, completing Frodo’s quest and vanquishing Sauron. Not our favorite day here in The Land of Shadow.com, but we love to honor Professor Tolkien and we understand the reason this day was chosen.
This years theme is ‘Travel and Adventure’ so what quest will you take up in the name of Professor Tolkien?
Take a moment to watch and enjoy this reading from The Fellowship of the Ring.
