Into the Eastern Desolation…

Middle-earth: Shadow of War releases their next expansion pack The Desolation of Mordor, which explores the mysteries found within the Desert of Lithlad.

“My name is Baranor, I am second Captain of the Gondorian Guard at Minas Ithil.” ~ Baranor

Within the borders of Mordor, upon the ashen plain of Lithlad, lay this desert plain which held many men from the far east. This area of Mordor was east of Gorgoroth, Mount Doom and Barad-dûr and little was written about it.

Will blood prove thicker than coin in the harsh Desert of Lithlad? In this new cinematic from the Desolation of Mordor Story DLC for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Baranor, Captain of Minas Ithil, has journeyed far to the East to raise an army of ruthless human mercenaries.

There he plans to conquer the imposing Marauder fortress of Shindrâm. But first, he has an unexpected reunion with his long lost brother, Serka, who now commands the very men he seeks to enlist.

This is what’s so great about Middle Earth videogames: the opportunity to explore the less-lesser known areas Tolkien wrote about. An opportunity to explore the uncharted regions of the map, so to speak.

    Apologies for being off topic.

RL: I’m not sure if you’re aware but a pretty awesome new LOTR book that has been released recently. It’s called Anything You Can Imagine: Peter Jackson and the Making of Middle-earth written by Ian Nathan.

A really good read and tells a lot of information that isn’t normally covered. Unlike the Apendicies of the EE this paints the production as being a bit more troubled than we’ve been lead to believe. But it also discusses the Cannes festival appearance of the first footage, which the author was present for. Also he was invited down to New Zealand during the pick-ups for TTT.

Thanks for sharing this Random. I haven’t seen or heard of this one yet. It looks good. I look forward to reading it…when I have a chance.

Also it has been a month since RL has update or added an article to the site. Hope everything is OK?

I thought it hadn’t been as long as that, but now you mention it I am concerned.
