mesmconceptblackgateiconThe Black Gate of Mordor!

The folks at Monolith Productions just released some never before seen concept art created for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor that will knock your socks off!

A view from atop the Black Gate!

To celebrate the two year anniversary of the release of this groundbreaking game, Monolith posted this concept art showing the Black Gate from the vantage point of being up on top, a view we never see in the game itself.

Looking at this gorgeously detailed image, it appears like the view is from the center/top of the Gate. In the foreground it one of the two gate towers and rearing up in the background is one of the massive Towers of the Teeth. Since this tower is to the left of the gate, we must be looking East, which would make this the tower of Charchost, one of the two vast towers that stood sentinel over Cirith Gorgor, the haunted pass into Mordor.

Go HERE to our Black Gate page under our Dark Domains of Middle-earth to see more details about the Black Gate.

Here is what they said on their posting about this newly revealed concept art.

The Black Gate of Mordor, a garrison of the Rangers of Gondor, keeping watch over The Dark Land. Until Sauron’s return… Enjoy this never-before-seen piece of concept art from the development of Shadow of Mordor! Make sure to lay your staff on the image below to zoom in on this wonderfully rendered illustration of the Black Gate.
