The last days of Mordor…
I’m sorry to say that after March 25th, The Land of Shadow.com will go dark forever
It has been a great run and for the last 20 years we have brought you all that is dark in Tolkien’s Middle-earth, but all good things must some day come to an end.
My monthly expenses for keeping Mordor online is $40.00 a month and I’m in the process of reducing my expenditures and can no longer afford to keep The Land of Shadow.com up and running. So Mordor will go dark on March 25 of this year, for that is the date when the Ring was destroyed and power of Sauron was forever overthrown.
“A brief vision he had of swirling cloud, and in the midst of it towers and battlements, tall as hills, founded upon a mighty mountain-throne above immeasurable pits; great courts and dungeons, eyeless prisons sheer as cliffs, and gaping gates of steel and adamant: and then all passed. Towers fell and mountains slid; walls crumbled and melted, crashing down; vast spires of smoke and spouting steams went billowing up, up, until they toppled like an overwhelming wave, and its wild crest curled and came foaming down upon the land. And then at last over the miles between there came a rumble, rising to a deafening crash and roar; the earth shook, the plain heaved and cracked, and Orodruin reeled. Fire belched from its riven summit. The skies burst into thunder seared with lightning. Down like lashing whips fell a torrent of black rain. And into the heart of the storm, with a cry that pierced all other sounds, tearing the clouds asunder, the Nazgûl came, shooting like flaming bolts, as caught in the fiery ruin of hill and sky they crackled, withered, and went out.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
I want to say I appreciate all the die-hard fans of Mordor ~ The Land of Shadow.com, who stuck by us over the years and wish you well in all that you want and strive for in this world.
So, feel free to take what you will from this site and make it your own. Perhaps one day the shadow will return and Mordor will once more rise from the ashes…. but until then keep your swords sharp and your iron-shod feet free of rust….and remember the Eye in the Dark Tower will ever be watching.
