Coins of Mordor featuring the Evil Eye of the Dark Lord
While the specific origin of this coin is not known, it is thought to have first appeared in the late 29th century among the minions of the Dark Lord of the East. The Iron Crowns that had circulated among those folk since the days of Melkor some thousands of years earlier were becoming scarce... and the value of these "eyes" were set at 1/10 the value of the iron crown. On the obverse above the eye it says "OBEY" while below is the inscription "MRDR". The reverse inscription views the fiery mountain from the North, and a sharp-eyed observer may even note the pyroclastic flow running down the mountainside, and perhaps even a door on the face of the mountain. The coin has a darkened finish that varies from blue-black to gray-black and sometimes purplish-black, protected by a beeswax finish.

Silver Hand of Sharku-Mano
This silver coin features the "WHITE HAND" on on side, with the runic inscription "Sharku" on one side and "Mano" on the other... Sharku-Mano, translating from hill-man-speak as "hand of the old man".... is a wizard-gone-bad that has taken up a tower abode and uses birds as spies. The reverse side of the coin features the tower with flying bird above. The inscription there reads: "Yzen" on the left, and "Gaarda" on the right. The Tower of course represents the fortress guarding the fords of the river Yzen, and the bird represent the spies of Sharku-Mano and his ability to know what is going on in and near his realm.

The Iron Crown of Morgoth
An ancient coin from the reign of Melkour (named Morgoth, "The Enemy" by the elfs) in Angbaund some 5,000 years ago. The pieces in this hoard appear to be of one of the earliest varieties, and were found sealed in a clay jar with oil, and thus are in astonishingly fine condition given their extreme age. Inscribed in primitivistic runes "MLKR" on obverse and "ANgBNd" on reverse. The iron crown of Melkor shown on obverse with the three Silmariuls, and the dragon representing Ancalagoun the Black spouting flame on reverse above the battlements of Thangorodruim. . Ancalagoun was later slain by an arrow shot by Eareundil himself from the back of an eagle during an epic battle in which the fall of Ancalagoun from on high smote Thangoroudrim to utter ruins and spelt the defeat of Morgouth. These coins were issued by Melkour as a medium of exchange for his slaves and minions, for purposes of gambling, purchases of weapons, and rot-gut liquor.

The Mumakil of Palan Harad
An heavy octagonal copper coin from the far south, brought north by traders of the Khanate of Palan Haraud. This unusual piece came to the Shayre through a southern trader who poled a flat-boat up the Brandywain and did business at Sarnford for a few days last year. He says he got them in Lebennine along with a cargo of fruits and tropical hardwoods that came up the coast from Far Haraud. They are quite heavy at about 16 grams, and very thick. The trader called them "Mumakil" and said that they show an image of the great beasts the Haraudrim use in battle, carrying castles upon their backs. This is, of course, absurd and no doubt the ravings of a wine-besotted fool, but the image does recollect that mythical creature of Halfling nursery rhyme, the "Oliphaunt". The inscription on reverse is of an unusual and flowery form, but appears to say "PALAN HARAUD" which would align with our earlier conjecture as to their origin.
