The Lord of the Nazgûl, travelled into the north
to seek revenge on his master's enemies. He founded a new realm
in the far northern reaches of the Misty Mountains, which he ruled
from his capital at Carn Dûm.

Evil things began once again to multiply. Orcs grew in power in the Misty Mountains and attacked the Dwarves. The Nazgûl, long hidden rose again. The chief among them came north to Angmar.

The great Sorcerer founded a new realm in the far northern reaches of the Misty Mountains, a realm stretching out into the lands on either side of the range, which he ruled from his capital at Carn Dûm. There he gathered Men and Orcs to his service, as well as other beings stranger and more evil, and so he created the kingdom of Angmar, and became its Witch-king.

With the new kingdom established, the Witch-king began the conquest of the Northern Dúnedain. Their eastern kingdom of Rhudaur was closest to Angmar's borders, and there, the line of the Dúnedain had already lost the kingship. Rhudaur's lord, one of the Hill-men, proved ready to ally himself with Angmar. So, the battle lines were drawn: to the west, the Dúnedain of Arthedain and Cardolan, and to the east, the Witch-king of Angmar and his allies in Rhudaur.

The Witch-king of Angmar openly declared himself and made war upon Arnor in the North. In his fortress of Carn Dûm, he raised a great army of orcs, goblins, wargs and trolls and attacked the Men of the North Kingdoms.

The Tower of Amon Sûl is destroyed, King Arvaleg is slain. Gondor to the south is in the midst of a civil war and sends no help to the north. After many years of battle and loss, the North-kindom falls to the Enemy as the Witch-king takes Arthedain and Fornost is over run.

The Witch-king of Angmar rules the north of Middle-earth with cold cruelty. Evil flourishes as the South-kingdom of Gondor battles in the wars of the Wainriders. Finally Earin II is victorious in the South and raises a fleet that lands at the shores of Lindon and defeats the Witch-king of Angmar. The Witch-king himself fled the field, and flies to the Enttenmoors and then vanishes from the North. He then escaped to Mordor, where he began to gather the other Nazgûl.

For a time Evil is driven from the North, but the Kingdom of Arnor is no more.
