All the Orcs of Mirkwood have gathered once more to witness the battles under the Thunderdome, as 8 of the remaining orcs in Mirkwood go under the Iron Dome in a fight to the death! The Thunderdome was forged in the smithies under Dol Guldur and were dragged by a team of wargs into a dark open glade bare of trees. There it was erected by 100 Uruks of Dol Guldur under the starless skies!

Brazen horns are blown. Drums roll under the dark forest. The raucous cries of countless orcs, echo throughout  Mirkwood… one of the Nazgûl sits upon his throne high atop the ruins and looks down upon the terrible shadows of Mirkwood. Suddenly a great flash of light shoots up out of Dol Guldur, lurid and green… The signal has been sent!

Let the Games begin… again!

Here is Round Two ~ Mirkwood, soon to be followed by Round Two ~ Moria, and lastly Round Two ~ Isengard!

Dang! Ufthak is brutally crushing his foe, as expected

  • CT

Ufthak aka the Jailor of Dol Guldur looks unstoppable at the moment.

  • CT

It appears as though the original concept design for Azog [Yazneg] and the original concept design for Bolg [Ufthak] will be entering the dome together in the next round.

  • An Azog divided against itself cannot stand!

  • CT

    LOL

  • Grievous1138

Come on, we all know that there is no stopping Ufthak, at least for the Mirkwood rounds.

  • CT

With Gothmog out of the picture, there’s no one to stop him in the Final 4 round either……he’s on a collision course to meet either Bolg, Azog or Lurtz in the finals.

  • Grievous1138

It’s gonna be Azog, to be honest.

  • CT

On paper, I would agree. But if people start voting strategically, he could be in real trouble. Esp. in a Final Four contest against Lurtz. Not only will he have to contend with those who prefer a very popular Lurtz character, he’ll have to contend with those who don’t want to see him in the finals against Ufthak. One thing is certain, his road to the finals will be significantly more difficult than Ufthak’s.

  • Grievous1138

That’s a good point. But I’m still thinking Azog is gonna be our champion Orc.

  • CT

I’m not sure I can go with Azog….after all, he got killed by a semi-midget. Sure Ufthak got vaporized…..but he got killed by the same elf that went on to kick Sauron’s a$$……that’s got to count for something. LOL

  • Grievous1138

Well, Azog did kill several powerful dwarf lords. At least he killed people. 😛

  • CT

Did he kill anyone over 4 feet tall? 😉

  • Grievous1138

Yeah, he killed a bunch of elves too.

  • CT

I must have missed that somehow. As a non-canon character I know he couldn’t have killed any elves in the book, and I don’t recall ever seeing him kill any in the movies………

  • Grievous1138

He wasn’t non-canon, he just died at the Battle of Azanulbizar when Dain cut off his head.

  • CT

It is true that the name “Azog the Goblin” appears once in the Hobbit, and that he is mentioned twice in the LOTR appendices, so in the strictest sense of the word, he is “canon”. But there is nothing “canon” about the character of Azog as he appears in the movies. According to Tolkien’s own writings, Azog was killed a good 140 years before The Hobbit timeline took place, so for all intent and purpose, he might as well be a fictional character.
Still, I can find no reference that Azog ever fought against elves in the books, nor could I find any instances where he battled elves in the movies. So I will stick to my belief he never killed anyone over 4 feet tall, until proven otherwise. 😉

  • Grievous1138

He is not only mentioned twice, but the story of him decapitating Thrór and the Battle of Azanulbizar are also present in detail in the Durin’s Folk section of the appendices.

  • CT

Perhaps I should have used the phrase ‘referenced twice’ and opposed to “mentioned twice” but whatever word you prefer, it doesn’t take away from the fact he is primarily a footnote character in the LOTR appendices.

  • Grievous1138

He’s still one of my favorite orcs. 😛

  • CT

There’s no doubt he’s an excellent character…….definitely one of the best villains In PJ’s movie trilogies.

  • Grievous1138

With due mustering of my fellow LOTR-fan friends, he’ll be decapitating Tark-skum soon enough….

  • CT

I’m looking forward to seeing someone other than Dain decapitate the Pale Orc……..LOL
