One of the most difficult costumes from any of the Middle-earth series of films to recreate in cosplay has to be the Dark Lord Sauron in full armor… imagine making it out of wood?
“But Sauron was not of mortal flesh, and though he was robbed now of that shape in which had wrought so great an evil, so that he could never again appear fair to the eyes of Men.” JRR Tolkien
Here in Mordor, we have posted about the many ways to create the Dark Lord’s armor from Peter Jackson’s prologue scene in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, but never have we see one like this!
Malaysian Middle-earth Fan Yomi Jigoku Sheng has chosen the medium of wood to make his fantastical creations, including the armor of Sauron. My hat is off to any cosplayer out there, who attempts Sauron’s costume. We have seen his armor made simply with cardboard & paint all the way up to complex armor forged from actual metal, but never have we seen one made from wood!
Not only is this costume fashioned from one of the most difficult materials to use in cosplay, but amazing the fit and proportions are dead on. There is something about this, that reminds me of the look of a Samurai Warrior. All that I can say is WELL DONE!
